Clydesdale Ultimate Independant Build

heres the frontend of the van almost finished of. We cycled the suspension and it has a full 12" of wheel travel with no clearance issues. we were able to push the axle ahead about 5/8" of an inch for more clearance on the back of the fenders. Should ride really nice and handle washboard and larger obstacles very well.

This Space For Rent
Impressive use of a rather obscure front end technology. I wasn't aware that there was a TTB setup in the 1 Ton load rating. Does it have F350 brakes? What size are the U-Joints? Any modifications to the oil pan or steering box location?

I'm a sucker for forward thinking. Kudos.

the ttb we use is based off of the dana 44 f250. Same size brakes as the 1 ton van comes with. The u-joints are slightly smaller than say a dana 60, but we have never had anybody have problems on the trail with them. We could probably use custom axles with larger joints if desired. Oil pan and steering box are all OEM. We are very big into desert racing at our shop and we try to build things that will take the abuse and perform good, but as with everything the sky is the limit. we could push this vehicle to have 18" of travel if the customer was willing to pay extra for it, but this will be adequite i think.

Here is a wheelchair van that we converted a few years ago. We just finished putting a 1.5" bodylift in it and a set of 35" tires on new 18" wheels. This van has about a 4" drop floor in it along with a side mounted chair lift.

Finished Product Photos

Heres some pics of the final product that we are able to give our customer. It will now be going down to Sportsmobile for a camper conversion. I hope everybody finds our work appealing and different with the use of the independant front suspension, and feel free to leave some feedback or questions.
