CODesertRat 2012 Wrangler JK

I figure I ought to introduce myself.
Here's our (my wife and I) 2012 Wrangler that we use for exploring Colorado and southern Utah. We've been doing this for a long time with a number of different rigs (IH Scouts, Nissans, Jeeps), and we were finally in a position to buy a new 4x4 a few years ago for the first time. The only choice was a Wrangler for what we wanted to do!

Very nice! Welcome to the forum. Looks like you have lots of opportunities to enjoy your Jeep. I'm jealous.

Subbing to this! I have a silver JK also and the plans are to do something along the same lines. How have you liked the 2.5 inch lift and 33's? Do you feel that you get caught up on alot of obsticals?

I think the 2.5" TF lift and 33" is a fine combo for the short wheelbase 2 door. Do I get hung up a lot? Not at all. There have been a few spots that I have whacked the underside (especially those low hanging rear shock / lower control arm mounts) on a rock where I may have cleared with a 35, but there are many advantages to sticking with a smaller tire. It seems that 35's is where a lot of durability issues start to crop up with the JK's. When its time to buy tires again, I may go to a 16" rim and find a slightly narrower metric size tire in the 34" tall range, although I really have no complaints with the 33 x 12.50's.

Thanks to all of you for the compliments!
