Coil on coilover snapped!

How much is Icon charging for a rebuild on these? My coils are fine, but at 60K a rebuild seems prudent.

I'd guess somewhere around $200 for your situation. I paid more for replacing the messed up lower heim and coil replacement.

UPDATE!

After a little confusion and some mis-communication between Demello, ICON and myself, I eventually got the replacement coil up to me and installed. Took a little bit more time than I hoped, but the guys at ICON stepped up and footed the bill for shipping and replacement! I still had to deal with the bill of the install, but was saved the hassle of shipping the broken coil back, as I was told just to toss it and not worry. All in all, I was happy with the service from both company's as they both apologized personally for the delays! :victory:

...can't wait now until the time I can upgrade to ICON's UCA's!

Thanks everyone for your inputs and help in the matter!

Yeah, I paid $200 + shipping to the middle of nowhere. They do have a specific rebuild day, Wednesday if I recall.

How much lift were you asking of the coilovers? How far did you have them cranked?
If they were cranked up too high (spring retainer/adjuster threaded too far down shock body) and you bottom the spring out on itself it could cause that effect, essentially smashing the spring coils together forcing them to deflect in some direction not intended.
...
That's called Coil bind and yeah that's the best way to describe it. I'd also kind of assume that's what happened if it's not a bad coil (as in a faulty manufacture job/fluke) I've done it to the coil-over shock on my DH Mt. Bike and it can happen with not much force/abuse. Coil-bind is a killer. Hope you get it sorted mate.

Cheers

I had my Camburg coilover spring snap which was provided by Eibach. Had to order 2 new ones at 70 or 90 each...
