I'm sure you probably already have something but :

We have similar wants and issues. What seems like the best choice for us is The Dirtbox canopy camper. Its total weight is around 450 lbs. Maybe a little less for a midsize truck.

Our criteria is: ability to set up in less than a minute, be able to sleep and use the porta-potty, without leaving the truck, being able to sleep someone in the bed also in a pinch. And finally security. (The truck tailgate locks, the canopy camper can be locked from the inside and the hatch that goes from truck bed up into the RTT can be locked while inside. ) It seems to check all the boxes for us. Happy wife, happy life.

Supposed to take delivery of our ZR2 within the next week or two. Will be looking at the Dirtbox canopy camper soon afterwards. Probably have to save up our money and pay cash for it. So it won't be instantaneously. But I will iron out the price & options right away. We are liking the current price, just hope we can save up enough before the price increases.

I'm still leaning hard towards the Dirtbox Canopy Camper for our 23' ZR2. I called & got some details.

What I was told by authorized dealer:
$2000.00 down and you also have to pay for any & all options up front, at the same time you put the money down. Life is happening but that's still the plan. 1 more year and SSecurity kicks in. Then I can save up quickly. Lol

Also, just so everyone is aware, there have been 2 people who have ripped the sheetmetal on both sides of their bed, just in front of the rear taillights. One guy had a overlanding bed rack with a RTT, and thats right where it ripped. So I am thinking that maybe some 1/4" thick aluminum angle, to maybe help distribute weight better, not exactly sure yet but I sure would be pissed if it happened to me.

Yes, me too eventually.

What I believe happened, based on what I saw for pics : Both people had some type of open bed Overland Rack RTT setup and both ripped the sheetmetal in very close proximity on both sides to where the rear rack supports mounted. And maybe some terrain was taken a little faster than it should have been, and if the truck bounces, all the weight in & on it, can drastically change instantaneously. So, just for example, what was say, 500 lbs static load, could easily jump to 1000 lbs or more, if you jump your truck or hit a series of woops and tires come off the ground. Kinda like the bent frames who were towing small trailers but hit the woops too fast.

But it is purely speculation because I wasn't there.
