Compressor vs. Power Tank ?

Which do you prefer?
This would only be for fixing flats out in the woods, not frequent adjustment of tire pressure.
Thanks for your help.

Lightest, simplest, cheapest, most dependable. Whatever hits the most high marks of the aforementioned criteria.

Driving 35 miles to the dive shop to get a tank filled will get old after the first time. My ARB Twin is always under the hood.

I would not want to wander around an unknown town looking for a place to get a tank filled during their business hours and the possibility that they would not fill my tank. What if the town doesn't have a place that refills C02. What if that patch job turns into a slow leak that needs to be filled every few hours and you are a day or two from town.

There is an aussie review of compressors on YT to include both the ARB HD and twin, the MV 50 and a couple VAIR compressors. All of them, even the MV50, were capable of reseating a bead. The ARB twin had a super fast refill time, under a minute for a 33 or 35 inch tire.

Tank - not hard to find a beer or welding supply shop in any town to refill. A 10 lb. tank last a long time and give me flexibility to move between rigs.

Most of my trail buds have tanks, I have a OBA with in between frame rail reserve tank. Guess who never have to worry about how full is air tank is.

And easy to have an air extension hose for other rigs.

But even if they have some issues refiling them, they still like them. Have to admit, they are nice, but I do not have refil location less than 60 miles away. And when at my fishing cabin, compressor can run nail gun w/o ever worring about low air tank. Only have to bring along an extension air hose. Cabin is like 150 miles from nearest town.

One advantage to a CO2 tank is the ability to run pneumatic tools. You can build OBA capable of this but usually means something engine driven and a tank. Since I just fill tire it's an MV-50 for me.

That's a nice perk to have, but with the explosion of lithium / cordless tool technology and availability, it's far less of a benefit than it used to be.

My viair is portable. It has alligator clips that attach to the battery, so it can work with any vehicle.

I explore with two vehicles. One at a time.. the viair is small enough and powerful enough for both rigs... slow (this gives the dogs a chance to go out and do their thing), but good.....
It is only on those cold and snowless days in DV and/or AZ that i wish (for a few minutes only) i had a CO2 tank....
