Make that 2 caps for me...

I just had an idea involving drilling a hole in the top of the cap(s), installing a fitting and a pickup line to the bottom with a QD coupler on the outside for the intake line on my water pump.

Thanks for doing the footwork on this too!

hoping to send this in a few weeks still getting a few things together and communication is not so good with them responding ?

also seems like looking into shipping might be worse than I thought !

Wheel bearings

I'll be doing my Compact's wheelbearings this coming week and will try and get you the right bearing numbers. The last time I replaced with SKF bearings, do you get SKF over there?

I offered on another thread to help with the caps as the factory is 30 mins from us and a telephone works much better with Conqueror than e-mail, this is still Africa but at least we have Fedex for the shipping.

that might be our only chance ? as every time I try to get something communication dies ?

we have a hard time getting bearings cause it seems there are a few versions ? and the compacts and conquests use dif models most likely do to the brakes ?

AFAIK the Conquest and Compact share the same wheel assemblies. The braked axles are actually produced by Al-KO, a German company represented in the US too. Just one question, does your trailers have the runover brake system we have here?

The coupler looks like this:

.... and the bearing and brake lining spare numers here: http://www.alko.co.za/pages/products/spares.htm

Maybe we should all just get on the same page before I start organising.

If you feel we are poluting this thread then rather e-mail me on jean (dot) visser (at) highpointvacuum (dot) com

That is not the system on any of the Compacts I have seen.

To help the ordering of parts, we should pick I person in the US and have our friend in SA ship to just one person and that person send out the order (seems like it would be cheaper too)

PS I still want 2 water caps.

Agree, I have travelled Morocco with Jason Porter (racingjason) so I'll be fine if he organises on your side but I think he is in Canada. Suppose it doesn't really matter who it is but it will make thing easier if I can work with one person over there.

I'll do those bearings in the morning and let you know waht the numbers are, maybe I should post a pic or two of them too.

Wheel Bearings

OK,

on the runover braked axle the inner bearing is a 32008X (40x68x19 mm metric) and the outer bearing is a 32006X (30x55x17 mm metric)

If you are interested in brake pads the part number is: AL-KO 384.509

I quick google revealed they are in the us and their distributors map here: http://www.al-kousa.com/distributor_list.php

I am just waiting for prices on the water tank caps.

Honu - I really like the larger attached awning that you have. I am going to be including one to mine sometime within the next week. How does it hold up to during hard storms? Was there anything you did to reinforce it as well?

it was part of the trailer when I got it so a bit hard and heavy to get up :) but it basically sits on the top ridge of the RTT and is cut and stitched in a way that kinda forms and matches the ridge then starts the slope

the only downside when I tried a large regular tarp for shade that was lighter was when draped over the top and coming down the sides you get some extra material that kinda bunches a bit and does not make a nice tight surface all the way around
does that make sense ?

being canvas type material that has a extra coating on the back the nice thing is that its totally waterproof and no light comes through at all also keeps the RTT much cooler inside

I am actually going to be selling the trailer if you know anyone ? :) so want to get some pics when it cools down can lay out the tarp and try to get a pic of it then ? but might be a bit till the temp drops :) but might help show you the pitch and stuff
the edges come over and are covered with velcro for sidewalls and have grommets

I'm guessing nothing ever came of this. I would still love an extra water cap, but seems customer service is still not great.

nothing ever came ? the guy I was talking to must have left ? I did not try to get it going again either sorry about that :)
had a good email going with some stuff then all of a sudden nothing ? so his email might have also been dead when he left ?

http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=147 is a good SA forum and a few people have offered help their ? for a cap might be worth trying to check what the cost would be and have someone mail it up ?
