I absolutely love these things. I was so impressed with them at Expo east. I only have one complaint.

I really wish the guys here in the US would modify these to fit 37s and run 8 lugs. It'd be nice to have a trailer match the truck and not worry about carrying different spares.

Yeah. they need to be able to run a 35" at minimum but 37's would be nice.

Have you done any winter camping in the trailer yet? How cold did it get and did the heaters keep up? Wife wants to know!

I would think in very cold conditions you could lower the roof and use a few small sheets of the aluminum bubble wrap on the canvas walls of the bed to better insulate the trailer. Having said that, I bet that heater, based on the one I saw at expo, would be fine probably down to 10 deg. Anything colder I bet you'd have to start wearing cloths and using down bedding.

How does it handle on trails/rocks off road? Does the weight push the Jeep around?

Looks great!!!

I've never used that aluminum bubble insulation that'd probably work good.

No coldest so far has probably been in the mid 40's it wasn't bad at that temp. If I had shore power or ran my generator I could run both heaters if needed could probably handle really cold like that.

Great trailer! I need to show your pictures to my wife.

Thanks!

Thanks, I haven't had it on anything real tough. The South Africa guys posted a video on FB the other day that looked pretty wild. I can sure feel it back there but really not much worse than my M416 on anything other than climbs that when I've seen the biggest difference.

Looks great!
I too have wanted one of of these since seeing them a few years ago.
I am not so patiently waiting for a UEV-490 to come to Canada. They are currently dealing with Transport Canada and waiting on approval to import I am told by the Canadian distributor.

I look forward to your updates from you!

Thanks for starting the thread. I'm interested in your opinions of usability. How easy is it to set up the awnings? How does it handle rain and wind? Any issues with the various systems? Bearing and hub maintenance? And I know we are all interested in more pics of it in action!

So jealous. I'm dying to get a 490. Seriously cool
Thanks Chris, the 490's are nice I liked features from both but so far I'm happy with the 440.

You bet. As for the awnings we (3 people) set them up in about 45 minutes at Expo East for the first time. For the size I'm happy with that, but kind of wish I'd went with the l-awning instead but for a Basecamp the batwing will be hard to beat. It just comes down to what you're into. Handled the wind and rain at Expo good. There was a software issue with the first batch of trailers that mostly dealt with the Li-ion batteries I believe but an engineer flew over here and flashed them so they should be good here on out. As far as the hubs and bearings go they use US supplied Dexter axles so shouldn't be anything out of the ordinary. Looking forward to some more trips but has been setting idle for a while.
