Consumer Tire vs Commercial Tires

Has anyone had experiences running a "Commercial" Grade tire vs. all the "consumer" grade tires?

You would think they would be a good fit for the expo community:

It appears that the only real problems is the limited sizes and the high costs?

I haven't seen anyone running either of those, it looks like ey are fairly dated tread designs but are probably literally as tough as nails.

Availability might be an issue as well

Interested to hear others weigh in.

Shocker

VanDOOM!
I have been thinking the same thing today! Not a bunch in the smaller diameter tire size though.

I had a set of 235/85-16 E-rated BFG TracEdge on the Disco for years.

Lasted for ever, did "okay" off road, and yes, rode like an empty cement truck.

The D-rated Dunlops that are on it now are far more comfortable and seem to perform just as well off road and in the snowy bits too.
