Coolest Camping & Other Gadgets (and some Gift Ideas)

You've got my vote on a Biolite stove. I just got one and decided to test it out today, being stuck inside with all the snow and all. Stuck in in the fire place and lit it up. Worked great. Even decided to cook a quick ramen snack and charge my phone. Was charging at 11%/hour, so it wasn't bad. Its basically a tiny, high efficiency furnace. The down side is that its high efficiency and tiny. It burns up the small fuel quickly, so you need to feed it constantly, which isn't that big of a deal when cooking or staying warm, but otherwise, say charging your phone, it can be a challenge. Still, its a good product IMO. The Ramen came out great btw. Just a little wood smoky.

Now if the power goes out, I can keep warm and cook. Considering its Oklahoma where nobody knows how to deal with the heavy snowfall we got today, that's a very good thing.

Thanks for posting these. I wasn't familiar with the first two. I found a "kit" from DeLorme that includes a Goal zero solar panel setup:

inReach Explorer Extreme Communication Kit

WakaWaka Light
The WakaWaka Light is a powerful, award-winning little portable solar LED light that burns bright for 16 hours on an 8-hour charge. That is cool. What's cooler is WakaWaka's mission to bring light to places without electricity: off-the-grid zones, refugee camps, and disaster areas. When you buy one, you help give one to those in need.

The Mojoe Griddle

The Mojoe is a restaurant quality portable griddle that can be used on your campfire, Weber BBQ, and high-output propane stove burner (Camp Chef, Bayou Classic). The Mojoe Griddle is most definitely not made in China (it's made in California), it cannot break and it will last for generations. Use it in your backyard, tailgate party or out on the trail. Cooking for a few folks or a crowd becomes a joy.

Hello Dan:

Thanks for thinking about how to use the Mojoe! The wash tub thing was recently done by Woody2 (who is a Mojoe customer) at a wrenching day in Fallbrook, CA. Here are some pics:

Most of those fire pits on Amazon will work just fine with the Mojoe!

The Volcano is made in Springville, Utah. We bought the non-propane model for less than a hundred bucks at Sportsmans'. It's 15.5 inches in diameter and collapses down to five inches high. Makes an excellent smoker as well.

Thank You Dan! I just talked to the guy in Fontana with the wash tub firepits. I'm going to go out there on Saturday and buy one! It should make a sweet heat source for a Mojoe cooking video!

Certainly not a new idea, but a very sleek design.

And they come in several different flavors...

Aluminum
Titanium
Polished Titanium
Polished Heat Anodized Titanium

"Proudly designed and manufactured in the USA."

(And yes, I know how to tie a taut-line hitch... But that would be no where as cool as a polished heat anodized titanium guy tensioner thingy ...)
