All tires pick up and throw stones. The bigger the voids, the bigger the stones. And unless the captive stones are the size of your fist, they're not throwing your tires out of balance... Just saying...
Chris
In theory yes...in the last couple years I have run 35" BFG A/T , 35" km2, & 37" GY MTR's and none of those tires picked up stones like the little 32" coopers I'm running now. . Like mentioned , after a dirt road drive I bet I could pick out a hundred peanut sized stones. Not saying that's the balance issue.. They didn't balance out when brand new and I should have sent them back but it was a last minute tire change prior to road trip and didn't have a choice. Don't get me wrong I love the tires.
No balancing issues here. What rims are you guys running?

My Method wheels are pretty nice ;)

I'm running FJ CRUISER limited edition TRD wheels on a DCSB TACO..

Well, I went with the ST Maxx and will say the drive home was a considerable improvement over my old Maxis Bighorns. But after swapping springs and panhards on the LC I went for my test with 24 miles on the tires. I made a u turn in a gravel lot and heard the awful hissing sound. When I checked the rear driveside tire I saw a stick the diameter of my thumb in the sidewall. Good news is America's Tire is replacing it at no cost, they said it would of been replaced with out the warranty. It can only be considered a freak occurrence, but still doesn't help the confidence in the Armor Tek sidewall. Again, at this point I'll consider it a freak occurrence, as I had other cooper LT tires do very well on all types of terrain. And with only 24 miles on them they are still brand new. I'll try to add the photos when I get to another device, the phone is not working for me.

And it's going on a week waiting for the new one to arrive at the tire shop.

thats crazy!

Agreed, so much for going from the 255/85 to the more "common" size of 315/75...

I did call a while ago, they have it mounted and ready to pick up but work is getting in the way again. My wife has volunteered to pick it up later when she up that way:wings:

Nothing is bullet proof from all calibers. That's why I'm still considering this a freak occurrence for the time being. I was focused on listening to the suspension driving in a gravel lot while making a u turn/ figure 8 and hit or ran over probably the only stick there at just the right angle. The pointy end must have grabbed one of the side lugs and not let go. I'm not going to let this one incident be the deciding factor on these. I'll just be more watchful of pointy sticks, lol

that being said, I have never seen that happen before. And we run cut overs from logging contractors as roads etc.

Does it concern you that this incident may in some way be related to the mysterious disappearance of the Malaysian Airlines 777 a few months ago?

Both of these incidents are very... mysterious.

Just speculating here.

I was saying this is a one time thing. I have run over all kinds of crap with no issues with my ST MAXX when I used them.

That's quite a large puncture on the sidewall. Talk about freak occurrence... glad they replaced it for free. I'm hoping these hold up just as well as my BFG KO AT's. I had to order 5 since the local Discount Tire didn't have them in stock. They will be coming in early next week so I'll have a chance to roll on them before the upcoming Death Valley Trip.
