Cooper Discoverer Writing Contest Grand Prize Qualifying Trip Suggestion Thread

The Cooper Discoverer Writing Contest grand prize is:
- A set of 5 Cooper tires
- An Experience Package for two at the Overland Expo EAST
- $2,500 travel budget

In order to qualify for the grand prize the story submitted must be from one of the epic overland adventure routes that our community suggests.
We're looking for everyones participation in compiling this list for routes in the US and Canada. We'll then put together an official list of select routes for participants to choose from.

For the Southeast folks I say a trip over the "Georgia Traverse" as laid out by GAOverland.
As far as I know. No one has done the whole thing in one shot, or maybe they have but never wrote about it.

It will be easy for us to collect suggestions from the west and southwest but we'll need everyones input like this for the eastern regions.

The Kentucky Adventure trail is another great trial that should be done.

The Dalton and the new road opening this summer out to Tuk.

Pretty ride ---- and it's in my back yard.
Like you said, I've never done it all at one time.


Does it have to be all about dirt, Brian? The BRP, end to end, including SNP, is a beautiful drive, historic, and represents what Appalachian America is all about. It's almost 600 miles with only one stop sign and no traffic lights.

For the Texas folks that don't have much open land, might I suggest Big Bend Ranch State Park.
The Road To Nowhere can be a fun adventure.
If you start off in Terlingua, it can be an all day adventure to get there and back.

Since Cape Lookout is listed, what about visiting Portsmouth Island? It's very remote and pretty close, geologically speaking, from the lighthouse.

I'd like to see a Canadian option. The most well known suggestion (outside of stuff up in the Yukon) would probably be Whipsaw Trail in BC.
