Costa Rica 'Wheeling

Hola,

I normally lurk on the Jeep page, but thought this was an appropriate post here.

Lois and I just returned from getting hitched in Costa Rica. It's an amazing place. We highly recommend going there.

On one of our excursions we went 'wheeling with Off Road Costa Rica http://www.offroadcostarica.com/

We both have Jeeps back home, so this was my first time driving an ancient deisel FJ40. It was a blast! It's the rainy season now, so there was mud everywhere. The beast belched blue smoke and fumes constantly (the only downside). Oh how I missed power steering! We tromped through the jungle on our way out to Lola's at Playa Negra. Lola is an 800lb pig that lives on the beach and plays in the surf. Simply too much fun!

Here's a bunch of pics...

Looks like you had a fantastic time and since you posted in the TLC section, we'll forgive you for the jeep comment ;) Eitherway your jungle trip would be a fantastic honey moon idear.

Cheers!

Been there, done that.

dont those things suck in the ruts without power steering???

How many times did you extract the leader? :sombrero:

What a way to spend a wedding & honeymoon. Congrats on that too. I wish I could say i'd love do the same, but nah I'll pass on the whole ring thing.

I think every surfer knows Lola. Although isn't she down the road at Avallanas, not Negra?

We didn't anything serious like you. Our rental 4x4 was the ubiquitous RAV4. We beat the crap out of it and it ran strong. The dirt roads in CR are great. Rather than dig a ditch to put in a drainage pipe, they just lay down the pipe and build up dirt on both sides so you can drive over it. Launch Pad!!! I don't know how we or the car survived.

Cool pics!

I'm exploring in Costa Rica right now. Currently just up the beach from Jaco. Roads have been in excellent shape. The locals are driving 2WD Corollas, Sentras, etc. on the dirt roads.

So far, my little rental Hyundai 4x4 has been up to the task.
