Crankshaft pulley bolt

I'm holding a brand new ADD sourced genuine MMA bolt and washer and my washer is dead nuts flat. There's a chamfer on the inside of only one side but other than that it is flat. There's no corresponding chamfer on the bolt head as it is flat where the neck meets the head.View attachment 539934View attachment 539934View attachment 539935View attachment 539936View attachment 539937View attachment 539938
Was at the pick-a- part yard today and found the short bolt/ washer pictured above. Exact same thing w/ the R designation and red loctite. Go figure.
Cleaned up nicely. I'm using it.
Blue loctite and torque to spec.
Thanks again everyone. G.

Most any G2/ G2.5/ G3...
... if it has a 3.5L V6, it will almost always have the defective bolt.
As well, the updated bolt can/ does work on other engines [crankshafts], like a 3.0L/ 3.8L.

3.0l uses a different (shorter) updated bolt. BTW - any high torque bolt like this should be considered a torque once type fastener...

I'm Getting Around To It
The second iteration of the crank bolt broke off flush with the end of the crankshaft in my 95 SR 3.5 DOHC years ago. It wasn't because it wasn't torqued correctly. One serious operation to get the rest of the old bolt out, a Time-Sert insert to restore the threads and a new, dealer-supplied bolt and washer and it's been through a couple of timing belt replacements without issue. Just freaking replace the thing.

Gen 2 & 3 Revised Crank bolt and washer - Part numbers: 1100A141 MR994412
If haven't heard yet; the factory bolt had issues with backing out, breaking off and ruining almost everything. including your day or worse, your trip into the back-country... But lets not even worry about that, cause there's a solution. If you check the the bolt holding your crankshaft pulley on and find it to stick out from the pulley more than an inch, it's the old unit and needs to be replaced, if it hasn't flown off yet, it's only a matter of time. Some of them only lasted 60,000 miles, some of them have lasted 160,000 miles, but eventually they all fail leaving you with a damaged crankshaft and possibly much more,
You can go to the local dealer to buy this part, part number: MR994412 and 1100A141
Do you need the bolt? Yup. Do you need the washer? Yup.

Do we sell you both in one cute little package with a sticker? Yup.

But for those of you without a local dealer, we've got you covered. We're such hardcore mitsu enthusiasts that we bought a house next to the mitsu dealer. That means we have easy access to dealer parts and we're passing that access on to you guys.

I don't think that the Gen 3s and maybe even the 3.5l Gen 2s had the crank bolt issue from what I can see. Where did you get this info. from as I can't find a TSB and the Mits dealer claims they can't either. Getting ready to do timing belt, so want to confirm.

Its totally legit, and yes, it effects the Gen 2.5 with the 3.5L engine as well. My neighbor used to be a service writer for a mitsu dealer and when i was rebuilding mine he walked over and confirmed it all.
