Little Late to the party I know, but any more pics of your rear bumper build? how far out past from ends did you go with mounting plates or to the back of Steel tube?

Love steelies. No way that rack system would work for me, I'm dumb enough to forget it every time I climbed in the back and I'd hit my head. That said, your bracing system looks like it's pushing out on your bedsides- one of the known weak points on the 2nd gens. You might want to measure your tailgate opening to check for squareness/spread but Total Chao and some others make supports that are supposed to help. No affiliation, just found them when I was looking for something similar.
