You visited a lot of sites in Portugal, this goes to prove how relatively small the country is. How long did it take for you to cover this much area in your last wander through Portugal, @alanymarce?

That trip was 13 days.
Wow, 13 days to cover so much ground - that's impressive! This got me thinking 3 weeks should be enough to explore both Portugal and some parts of Spain. Thanks for sharing!

Bear in mind that it was not our first time in Portugal. Usually we cover 165 km/day on long trips, and more than that on shorter trips, some of which are essentially reconnaissance for later trips. On a Central European trip at the end of 2022 we covered 4169 km in 16 days, so 260 km/day - far more than usual, however the trip was very focussed.
It's fascinating to hear your travel style, especially with the reconnaissance trips – that approach seems brilliant for streamlining future visits. Someday, I aspire to explore Europe as extensively as you do. We're thrilled to be gearing up for our 3-week adventure through Portugal and parts of Spain. Portugal's a fresh playground for us, but we've got fond memories of wandering through Spain before. Hopefully, we'll get to savor both countries without feeling like we're racing against the clock. Thank you. The next "big trip" is South Asia, all next year; we added a couple of weeks onto a brief trip to Rajasthan this spring, which made it a ""reconnaisance" trip ; it seems we need several years for India alone : )
