Crush sleeve VS shims

The crush sleeve also gets additional crush with a blow to the pinion flange. Then the pinion bearings loose preload and bad things happen.

There are several sources of those solid spacers. Ring Pinion Biz that advertizes on ih8mud has them, it sounds like Kurt has them etc.

I see that Cumminscruiser is in Greenwood, not too far from Sacramento. River City Differentials (Sean) in Rancho Cordova makes them if requested on his lathe when he sets up your diff. Charges an extra $35. He has done 4 for me with new aftermarket gear sets. I've never been super happy with West Coast Differentials which is also in Sacramento and while it's a good place to get parts, I don't recommend it as a place to have work actually done.

7 of the 8 diffs that I've built using a spacer I never had a crush sleave to use. Purely an iterative solve for the correct spacer length. On those seven the spacer was made long and we used a surface grinder to slowly shorten them. The 8th used shims.
