A little video showing the replacement of the control arm I tacod at MAOF in a weird spot, and what I did to beef it up.
Keep in mind for cars not totally meant for heavy duty fun, that you may need to do a bit of beefing up

Looks like your fix should handle a lot more of a beating.
Have you checked the mounting locations for any stress cracks?

I have. The forward mount is a stud welded into the subframe itself. No paint deformation to indicate a crack of any sort or movement. The other end is the knuckle, which im not worried about. I did notice a flexy spot on the subframe where the lower control arm bolts near the diff, so that will be the next area to address. I am in process of ordering a new subframe to completelty strangthen and have the built in subframe drop instead of the blocks i have now.

Good fix. Was a good opportunity to make some templates for a kit. Nice technical work on the video too.

has me thinking about some similar work on my Suburban. I'm already planning to beef up the front tie rod ends (it's a design weak point on the GM trucks) and I'm really nonplussed by the way my rear shock tabs hang down on the axle tubes. I think I need to relocate those upward. Boulders and gravel and high desert wheelin' are my plans, so your sort of undercarriage armoring really aligns (no pun intended).
