CTIS... crazy nonsense or awesome possibility?

I have thought of using Humvee system however, it seems like I would want to spend my money and time elsewhere. Everyone else has to pull over and air up or down so you'll be waiting on them any way. I'm learning the KISS method is the most effective

My idea does follow the KISS methodology and if it is relatively cheap to make up a prototype, why not give it a shot? I do this stuff for the challenge, learning and fun. Maybe it will work, maybe it won't...either way I can learn a lot and have fun working in my shop. If I were really in it for the money, I probably wouldn't choose such a long shot idea... :)

If you really want a marketable idea versus a custom one off, focus on making a CTIS wheel versus a CTIS axle... I have some ideas.

I'm thinking of an idea that isn't through the center of the hub but is still inside the fender well so it can be protected.

Hi,

take a look at this:

This was at "Abenteuer Allrad" fair. This is the biggest offroad one in europe. As far as I can remember this solution is offered from around 2k onwards (in euro!). It should be possible to bring it much cheaper on the US market. In Germany its tricky due to street legal permissions (things like pedestrian security, no dangerous parts at the outside of a vehicle are allowed where passengers can hang up ...). These things costs several thousands of Euro to get permissions before you are allowed to sell one peace for legal use on streets. That´s why things in Germany can be pretty expensive to build.

But this thing looked very solid is adaptable to different trucks (meaning big ones from 10 tons onwards).

The last thing I need is another line hanging down to get snagged and going from the out side of the wheel like the euro set up in the provided link is a bad idea ON or OFF ROAD .. Either way I have to stop to unlock my hubs and check the vehicle over for safety hazards before hitting the highway, OH ya and wait for my friends to air up as well.

I'm interested in seeing the progress.

Right. MAN, Mercedes, Iveco etc are all full time all wheel drive. I agree this version is only useful in desert conditions like Sahara, where nothing can interfere with the lines.
