my mechanic turned me onto Royal Purple full synthetic many moons ago when he was running it in his Dodge/Cummings
(he does say he is confident the Rotela and Delo full synthetics are just as good ±)
the engine tranny both diffs and transfer case are all filled w/ the full synthetic Purple stuff
i have a 2002 F-350 7.3 SRW 4x4 that has over 365k on it and the only failures have been common wear external components(cooling system starter injectors...) NOT the engine itself
i did have the tranny rebuilt @ just under 200k(something about HEAVY pulling in reverse) butt the engine transfer case and both diffs are still stock original components
i am on a 10k interval where @ the 1st 10k i just change the filter/top off and @ the 2nd 10k i do a full oil n filter change
that means that 11qts go the full 20k
as for duty the last time i ran across a scale it weighed over 27k# hauling an antique firetruck on a trailer from Little Rock to DFW
the heat where i am is usually considered severe duty unto itself
when it comes to mileage/fluid changes everyone has their own personal feelings and i am only sharing my personal experience w/ full synthetic fluids in a diesel powered 1-ton truck that has earned it's stripes
in the event this truck does need replacing or i win the lottery and just want a new one i'll do with it as i have with this one
