cummins owners that have boost guages

I just installed a mech boost guage on my 99 and driving around town it never moved, for you guys that have guages when does your boost kick in.
RPM and speed?

'88 4bt he221w 6cm exhaust housing I see 4-5 at idle and 20 by 1400 under load and 26-28 from 1500 up at WOT EGT's never exceed 1,150* pre turbo this is in a 8K F-250 4x4 ZF-5 3.55 gears 33" tires

My boost gauge moves any time i use the throttle. Gas it and it goes up... let off and it drops. Better go back and reread the instructions, I think something is not hooked up properly.By the way mine is a 99 24valve with 375,000 miles.

Any time you apply throttle under load the boost should start to increase.....Idle and coasting there will not be any boost.

Ok so it works, in 2n and 3rd it gets about 2 to 5psi shifting at 2k, 4th goes up to about 10-12 at around 2kish. Does this sound right

I think you have a leak on the line, your boost at 2k rpm would be higher than 2 to 5 IMO.

As previously mentioned, it has to do with RPM and load.

As in, same RPM going up-hill and downhill will net different readings.

So i drove it to work today, hit 20 psi. I think that is pretty good. Turbo is loud at the psi. I have a BAHF intake so i am sure that is a lot of the noise.

Think runs good.

i would check for kinked line and boost leaks. that thing should see at least 25psi stock
