Custom Rubber Flooring

The D2 underpad is open cell. They can weight up to 100lbs each sopping wet. (that's per area, drivers's front, passenger front, rear seat). The only way to get them dry is to take 'em out, hang 'em up in the sun.

By the way what is that stick on sound insualtion that they use on Overhaulin'?

I thought it was Dynamatt. It's just overpriced standard asphalt matting. I've heard them also call it "Brown Bread". I got some generic stuff from a body shop and put it in the front to help cut down on tire noise and it helps.

I am not sure what they use on Overhaulin, but the original Dynamatt was an asphalt based product, but the new Dynamatt (extreme) is a butyl product. Brownbread is specific butyl product from B-quiet IIRC. Yep here it is http://www.b-quiet.com/ultimate.html now replaced with B-quiet Ultimate.

I am ordering this http://www.cruisercrap.com/quietcrap/index.html and think that I will line-x right over top of it. Like what was done on the FZJ40 on Pirate.

Also, I have been looking at a lot of sound/heat deadeners and I am cheap, but be aware that using the asphalt stuff like Peel and Seal (from Lowes) has slid off of some vertical installations, and "melted" for some installers. I have NO direct experience with any of the above products, this is just what I think will give me the best bang for the buck.

BTW Alistel,

Nice Install! What a PITA it is to get that stuff to fit all the bends correctly.

Nothing made more of a difference in cutting down my TDI clatter than Luxury Liner. It all helped, but if I could only pick on, it would be LL. Great stuff, and perfect color to match the Defender medium grey interior.

What shape do the sheets come in? Squares or rectangles?

We got a lot of the noise under control, so the loudest noises are wind noise and the high pitched gear whine from the overdrive. I think the gear whine can be taken care of by sealing up the tool tray under the center seat better.

From looking at the website, please take note that the (standard) Luxury Liner appears to be open cell foam and the Luxury Liner Pro is closed cell.

Thanks for bringing up that point. What I have is Luxury Liner Pro. With a diesel, I only went with Pro version on all the Second Skin products, so I can't comment on the regular products at all.

The LLpro comes in rectangles rolled up. Check site for exact dimensions.

This is a concern of mine, as well. How did you find the prices of the SS products relative to others, by the way ?

FYI - I have found this site very informative : http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi

Right now, I am thinking of a combination of the above, along with looking at that "Lizard Skin" paint, but it's still a bit up in the air yet - performance is paramount, but price will also be a key point to consider...
