Oh and I forgot to mention, if your truck is not driven like a truck you can polish it for that extra bling factor.

I've also heard of "white restaurant grade cutting board plastic" being used for skids (not sure what type). It allows the vehicle to slide over obstacles better supposedly and should be light weight, but I've not heard of anyone being able to get it in larger sizes or sheets.

Those cutting boards are sometimes made from cross-linked High Density Polyethylene. Should be able to find that at mcmaster.com The material would need some sort of structural backer.

I'm doing a little experiment with this plastic backed by expanded metal to see what it can hold up to... we'll see. Slick as snot though...

I've had my eye on some of that HDPE plastic also... Seems to be the way to go if you live in a rust prone environment.

Looks like it, but it's proabably attached to the metal bumper behind the valance, and the valance is trimmed. Otherwise would have had to make some more bends to get it to the radiator support where the stock one is attached.
