Custom Storage Cabinet for 80 Series

One off, custom made storage system for your 80 Series LandCruiser.

I made this cabinet about 2 years ago in a friends cabinet shop. I only used high quality components. American made birch plywood in both 3/4" and 5/8" was used throughout. Compression T handle latches from Allegis.com, Accuride 500# slides, Line-X, are just some of the fine touches. I designed it to accomodate a modest subwoofer box and amplifier in the rear section. There is a small pistol safe as well. Up front is a gauge for my on board air and a flush mounted 1000W Xantrex inverter.

I am surely missing some details in my description.... please ask questions.

$1600.00 is my asking price. At this price I am including the inverter and air gauge. I cant see selling the setup without it given that the cabinet was made specific to this inverter. I doubt another model inverter will fit the face frame.

Options....

The subs are JL Audio 8W3 with matching grills. The speakers still rock and sell for $130/ea plus grills at $20. The box was custom made specific to these subs and finished with Line-X. For the sub set up I want an additional $350.

The amplifier is a Zapco 200. An older but highly desirable model. Matches the subs perfectly. I'll let it go for $150 with the subs only.

Let me be clear.... I am not trying to sell the audio side of this cabinet. I plan to reuse it in a future cabinet build. But I also understand some potential buyers may be turned off by having to build their own solution for the sub and amp so I am offering it with the purchase of the cabinet only. I will not part these components out or sell them without the cabinet.

So if you want the complete package just like it is in my rig I'll let it go for $2100. I'll even help you install it in your rig if you bring your rig to me. I know we are talking about some serious money. But this is a serious cabinet. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Wow! Nice design and execution! Whats the thing under the amp that kinda looks like a...uh, Geroge Foreman grille? Sorry... don't know how to describe it better. :) And which model inverter is that on the drivers side rear? Guessing that doesn't go with the box either? Just curious so maybe this can be a friendly bump? :)

It's a Sentry Auto Safe.

Great job on the build!

$1,600 for a used storage box? Yikes...

Yep. And I'm not ashamed to ask for it. I put in all the time and over $800 just in materials. It is gently used and highly custom. If you want better then this you'd have to pay much more then what I'm asking.

Correct. It is the Sentry Safe. Just a small fairly secure, somewhat hidden spot to stash valuables when away from the rig on outings.

I will include the inverter for full asking price. It is a Xantrex 1000W constant output. Would have to remove from cargo system to get you the exact model number.

I am in Northern California. Just east of Stockton & south of Sacramento.

Thanks again for the compliments and honest opinions. For many this is more then anyone would ever need. But for a select few this is the clean, well thought-out, storage that they have always wanted/needed but don't have the resources to do themselves.

I just hope to find the "right" 80 owner.

Too many plans, not enough time
I really like it, but the price is a little high (at least for me) and you're on the wrong coast....so even a significant price drop the shipping would kill me.

I appreciate that...

Don't really want to sell it.... But I have a bug to build a new one...... So this one has to go..... Help me fund my new project.... and get this awesome storage system for your own rig

If I had an 80, I would buy this in a heartbeat. Awesome work and GLWS.

I don't know how I messed this before. Extremely well done - you could give manufacturers of similar products a few lessons on design and craftsmanship. Be sure to keep us posted on the replacement.

Thanks for all the compliments. If you are local and serious you can swing by and we could discuss building custom units to fit rigs other then 80 series cruisers.

As a stay at home dad I am looking to make this a viable home business. So any work thrown my way is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Cruise on

This appears to be the top of the line in quality. That being said, most people can't touch $1600 for a storage solution (you're aware of this, I know). That kind of coin will buy one hell of a Pelican case setup or in my case, the materials and tools needed to tackle my own project.

If I had your skills, I'd be hell bent on finding a way to crank these out for an affordable cost and make myself a little side business. Nice work. Unfortunately and as we all know, these projects rarely pay for themselves.
