Steve, I accidentally deleted your entire thread this morning trying to get rid of a spam post. My apologies.

Great trip report. Roseann and I loved the Dempster Highway.

No worries - it looks like its been recovered and I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it!

Yes, the Dempster is beautiful though I had some pretty miserable weather during that part of my trip and only got a vague glimpse of how colourful it would have been had it not been so wet.

That is awesome. Gorgeous pictures and a nice site you've got there. It's also nice to see a new 200 out there doing what Cruisers do best. I hope to make a trip up through Canada into Alaska to Homer here in the next couple years (if I can't make it this summer) Seeing your trip and pictures makes me want to leave yesterday...

Cheers

Very Nice!

Steve,

Beloved Spouse and I did a visit from Banff to Vancouver and then a cruise up the inside passage last summer. Loved the train and ship, but yearn to come back in our own vehicle.

Your pictures and text are inspiring!

Thanks for the comments. I think you'll find the overland trip quite a different experience to the cruise!

Please relocate entry

To Moderator - please can you reassign this thread to the "Completed Adventures" category. I just ready Scott Brady's criteria for posting under "Completed Expeditions" and I feel my entry is better suited to "Completed Adventures". It certainly doesn't fit into a strict definition of 'Expedition'.

Thanks
Steve

For those of you worried about mosquitos and chemical exposure there are some very good natural bug repellants on the market now. My wife and I live in Fairbanks, Alaska which is mosquito heaven, and we use only organic/natural repellant. It works great, and we don't have to worry about the exposure to high levels of Deet.

To the OP- Great Blog!! My wife and I are going to do the Dalton next year after our FJ is set up a little better. Of course its a bit shorter trip for us, but still just as beautiful.

+1 on non-deet repellants. My wife found a nice recipe (searching the net) that uses isopropyl alcohol and water as the base...with cintranella, peppermint, and about 3 other oils as addatives. Works quite well. Will need to reapply more often but it you don't feel like a walking chemical spill either.
