Dana 60 Modification - Opinions Needed

So, I took the van on a pretty good off-road shakedown trip a couple of weeks ago and was a little disappointed at the lack of tight turning ability.
In looking at the front axle I see that even on full right or left lock there is 1.5 – 2” space between the outside edge of the leaf spring and the inside wall of the tire. I’m thinking of taking a grinder to the steering stops and removing a small amount from the end, thereby increasing the amount the wheels will turn and tightening the turning circle.
Anyone done this before or see any reason not to do this?

Cheers,
Andy

Have you installed the longer pitman that's available through U-Joint ? My tires rub the leaf springs when wheels are cranked all the way I had to drill and tap the knuckles to prevent tire rub.

Additionally your Ujoints in your front axles may bind up if you articulate them more than stock ROM.

No. I'm still using the original pitman arm.
