Danner Mountain Light II - An on-going review

Hey @mortonm 10 year update? :)
Hahaha almost 11! In May. Still going strong. I'll have to get a pic. I haven't had to resolve them yet and I've put a ton of miles on them. I just save them for hiking so they've rarely seen pavement or concrete.

The only issue I've had is I put a crampon spike through the side of one in Iceland last year. It cut the leather but I don't think it got the goretex membrane as they are still pretty water proof.

I posted on this thread in Nov 2015 about my purchase of these boots. Thanks again for posting this original thread. It pushed me into buying these. I just got my second pair a few months ago so I wouldn't be without because the 2015 pair are overdue for resole.

They were my daily driver and hiking boots. Now I can keep the old pair for hiking and the new pair for every day stuff. I'm guessing now that I have 2 pair I'm done buying boots for the remainder of my lifetime. Thanks for the longevity Danner.

Does anyone know, are the new Danners still made in USA and of the same quality?

I also like the idea of having fewer "things", but if quality and having them a long time. I remember my father (101st airborne in nam, so a good long while ago) resoling his army boots a couple times when I was a kid. And I am always on the lookout for a good quality hiking boot.

These have been on my radar for years and years but never squeezed the trigger on them. I've been through cheap hiking boots and medium quality like the Oboz Bridgers (which are very good for a lightweight type), but am looking for a 10 year pair

Many Danner boots (including this exact style) are still made in the USA. You can filter by this option on their website.
