Expeditionswest: The ARB Roof top tent is brilliant, I use it mostly for short overnight trips or when I'm too drunk at a party I just sleep outside someones house It's actually from Howling Moon, just rebadged. The floor and ladder is much stronger than the others I've seen on the market, I'm quite impressed with it.
Hilux_Max: Cheers, ah yeah, have you got your Lux up on there?
FourByland: The roof top tent is supported by two upside down U shaped framework in the tray, one at the back and one at the front, they bolt onto the sides of the tray and come up and over to either side like a roll cage, it has four flat mounting sections inside the roof of the canopy where there are holes I drolled of which I mounted two commercial heavy duty roof bars on little support posts, it works a treat and is extremely strong. Simple yet effective.
Lost Canadian: Yup, thanks for letting us know about this forum! It's pretty good!
ChuckB: WA is my favourite state, although we lack in the entertainment factor, QLD has to be the best holiday destination I reckon, try get there next time! I also often head down to Margs myself, it's a nice place.
Schattenjager: Please see my response to FourByland.
Northern Explorer: Yeah they mostly do, Aussies have right hand drives, UK has the same, some asian countries have them and the US is all left hand drives.
Blair G: Which magazine do you get mate? 4WD Monthly? Yeah it's a Turbo Diesel Common-rail 4cyl 127kw powerhouse

Schattenjager said:Thanks for the input! If you have a chance, I would REALLY appreciate seeing a picture or two of the inside and roof top of your shell. I would much rather take your stealth approach than tac on a ladder rack. Not having any imagination to speak of, pictures would help me a lot.
BajaTaco said:Dave, welcome to Expedition Portal. Thanks for stopping by and sharing the eye candy. I love your Hilux - very nice! I am curious what kind of fuel economy you are getting with the extra vehicle weight and the D4D.
D4Dave said:Cheers mate. Yeah I am getting between 9.2-10.3L per 100Kms which is absolutely great. I get a good 1000Km's out of my long range tank before needing to fuel back up. That's with the roof top tent on there too.
