Day hike through Salome Jug

A few friends and I went out to Salome Jug on Thursday, and it was a great trip to cool off and get a good hike in at the same time. Because we went on a weekday, we had the whole place to ourselves. It was a beautiful day spent outdoors with my friends. I can't ask for more than that.

its hardly a secret since arizona highways did a deal on it (i like and dislike that mag at the same time) ,,,, its still an awsome retreat but much more populated.

i used to jump down the big drop in the pool, one way trip unless you had climbing gear, then i'd walk through the desert above the canyon to get back to the truck. is the steel spike still in the rock? could you not make the jump cause water too low or? just wondering why the repel. i havent been there in years.

Some of us jumped and some of us rappelled. I wanted to jump, but since we had the gear and I had never done it before, I rappelled. You know, for the experience. A little pretentious I know, but fun nevertheless. :rappel:

The water was perfect for a hot day, probably around 70 degrees or so. It was chilly if you stayed out for a while and got back in, but once you were in, it was niiiiice.
