Death to the "Death Wobble"!?

It has been a long haul and a great education but I have high hopes that I have finally given my death wobble problem a death certificate.

I install the final piece of repairs/upgrades today and give it a good test ride to confirm my belief.

Let' see my repairs have been so far:

1. Balance the tires
2. Alignment
3. Replace steering linkage
4. Replace steering box
5. Replace the Currie steering linkage joints on the tie rod and drag link
6. Replace both front u-joints
7. Replace both front ball joints
8. Replace both front hubs
9. Inspect and lube all control arm joints and replace 2 of the Johnnie Joints
10. Inspect and lube RE track arm
11. Upgrade front disk brakes (I noticed they were worn and were also "baked" from running too hot.)
12. Replace both front steering knuckles.

Yep, I think that should about do it....judging the $$$ and time spent, this has got to either be a love thing or an addiction. :Wow1::drool:

Here are a few pics of the parts replaced and the newer front end.

Looks good. Curious, how do you like the new bigger brakes?

Also, since you have adjustable lower arms, what length do you have them set at? I recall finding a chart at one time regarding how much longer the lower arms needed to be as you lifted the Cherokee. I know I set my JKS arms are 1/4" longer than the stock arms and have factory length upper arms. No death wobble problem.

Looks pretty good, I'm needing to do new brakes too because they just aren't that great any more and makes lots of noise. Plus about 4 years ago the shop told me I'd need them replaced within 1 year so I'm overdue.

I thought I had my death wobble nicked with new tires and an alignment last summer, but lately when I am accelerating or coasting a little over 50mph I can feel it starting to shimmy a little bit so I need to start looking things over again before it gets bad.

My cherokee is also experiencing a slight shimmy at 40mph which sometimes will turn into death wobble. I am interested to know if you fixed yours.

Man those are some purty parts:sombrero: What tires/size are you running? I must have missed that info. I sitting on 35 x 12.50 and after 5 years have never had the wobbles. It must be an addiction. It's also very curios how almost Identical rigs can act so differently, you've fought this "demon" and been very technical in your approach. others will go out and tighten up a track bar bolt or rotate the tires and call it good. I guess the Jeep Gods are good to Phules.:smiley_drive:
