For years now, we (Inyo County natives) have been trying to modernize "Tea Kettle Junction" to "Microwave Corners".
Alas, we've had no luck so far.
We're glad you were able to enjoy the Springs. Back in the days when that was not part of DVNP, but BLM, there was no camping limit - you could live out there, and people did. Almost completely self-policing, and there was always someone around to help you, even in the middle of summer (which was mainly when people got IN trouble).
