Death Valley Wander 2012

Had a hard time compiling this trip report, the days and moments all blended together...so I broke it down into chapters

I will post a new one every day until it's finished...

Here's Chapter #1

Our trips this time of year always start with a trade show in Vegas, once we left there we camped west of Death Valley Junction again

Then made our way to the Amargosa Hotel and Opera House for breakfast and exploration the next morning

Does anyone know if something happened to Rock at the Outpost? Everything was barred up, and the fridge and freezer were cleaned out and left open...


This is what the dry falls in Goler Canyon looked like when we were there...we were expecting the usual rocky obstacle, but instead it was freshly covered The other side of Mengel Pass made up for it, though...

Then made our way to Warm Springs Camp, which proved more difficult than in the past. Recent flooding obliterated the road, so it was like picking your way through river bed...

Your pictures make mine look like I drew them with a box of crayons while blindfolded. We spent last Thanksgiving there and had a ball but have a lot more to see yet. Nice pictures from what looks like a nice trip.

Great report and awesome pics, this ^ was my favorite. Great exposure, and the plain texture and color of the ground against all of the color and texture in the clouds is awesome. Was this an HDR image?

Still one of my favorite Tacoma builds of all time, I see you added a CBI high-clearance rear bumper, which pretty much puts the truck's awesomeness factor into the stratosphere
