Hello all, I am new to Expedition Portal, but wow, what a great resource!

I need to sell my 110 and I had many people suggest posting it here. I won't bore you all with too much about it. Call or write for all the details. In short, I bought the truck in N.C. as a stock 1996 12 seater with a clean title. I built the double-cab and made a number of upgrades. The 300tdi is strong, the driveline is excellent, and there is very little corrosion. It is a great truck, but hard times mean one truck has to go and I have had the little 88" diesel series for longer, so the Defender will have to go. I have over $23k invested and would like to start there. Hope everyone is having a great fall!

1996?? Is it registered as a 1996 or as an earlier truck? Just wondering how you got a 16 year old truck into the US and properly registered when federal regulations usually limit imports to vehicles over 25 years of age unless they are identical to vehicles sold new into the US.

I think a clean title that matches the truck is key to its value.

Also you didn't mention if it was LHD or RHD. And it is a 110 and not a 127?

Its probably a "1984." VIN swap...

Welcome Stuart,
Sorry to hear you are selling the truck. Always liked it as you know.
To answer a few of the questions above. As he said in his post, he bought it already imported and titled from a seller in NC. So he didn't "get it in" or handle its initial registration.
It is a 110 double cab as stated,he converted it from a 5 door wagon to a double cab as he says above. No its not a 130-its the 110 pictured. I haven't seen it in about a year but its has always been in excellent condition when I have seen Stuart @ events. Cant remember if its lhd or right but believe its right given the price and the wiper arms.

It is incredible the way some people feel it necessary to step all over others postings, especially a first post. Why would anyone make vin swap comments? That's just wrong @ the highest level . I for one would like to think the spririt of this forum would be to try to help others and share knowledge and experience as opposed to razzing a first time post. If you want to know about his truck email him.
Stuart is an awesome guy and has been very active over the years in the Rover Owners Association of Virginia having been a board of directors member for years and very involved with the Mid Atlantic Rally during the Pearls Pond years.

I didn't make a vin swap comment, but I am curious as to how a 16 year old truck got registered in the States. Even though he didn't import the truck I assumed he would have checked how it came in since the year does not ordinarily comply with US federal regulations.

He has a nice looking truck for sale, but it is, as you stated, not a 127/130. I couldn't tell from the truck's angle in the picture and most LRs with four doors & open pickup backs are 127/130's.

So please do not jump on my curiosity. Had it been a 127/130 I might have been a buyer. I could be easily talked into bringing in a 16 year old D127/130 with factory installed 300tdi if I knew how to bring one in legally. So I am curious as to what loophole in the regulations got it in. As they say I would like to drive a truck through it. But haven't a clue as to how to do it. I'm assuming the truck came in legally. I just want to know how to do it too.

Hello Doug,

Thanks for taking up for the new guy here. I appreciate all of your honest comments and direct points about me and the truck! Well put. Here is the stuff on the truck:

**It is titled as a 1980 Land Rover, I bought it that way and did not ask any questions
**It began life as a 12 seater and all of the 12 seat components will go with it
**I built the double cab, it is the only 3 rib double cab in the world
**It is right hand drive
**I built the brush bar, it is bolted with the existing bolts and the existing bumper
**The winch is a NAS spec plate with a Warn 9k
**It has a slightly modified NAS 110 rear hitch
**I built the roof rack and it can be either double cab length, or with removal of 2 pins and a tug, it grows to cover the bed as well. Either a 5ft or 8ft flat roof rack surface.
**The spare tire hood mount is a kit unit from RN
**It has OME medium duty shocks and springs on all corners
**It has NAS 90 wheels with nearly new MT's
**It has a D130 heavy duty front axle with the huge cv joints
**I built the raised intake and it is sealed
**It does not have a/c
**It has Hella fog lights
**In the last 90 days the injector pump was professionally rebuilt, new timing chain with the updated tensioner kit, and new radiator and intercooler
**It has 132k miles, had 82k when I bought it
**I need to sell it, so I would like to hear any reasonable offers, do not worry about hurting my feelings, the worst thing that can happen is I can say no.

As for pictures, I am not sure how to post any more here. Perhaps those with real interest can e-mail me and I can send them out directly.

Thanks,

Stuart

To answer Porriggity above.

I guess I did not. Sorry if I posted in the wrong place. I am simply trying to sell a truck that I really love because I was screwed out of a lot of money 3 years ago and now have no choice but to sell my truck.

My post was tongue in cheek in regards to the EE comment. I was serious about more photos and will gladly post them for you if you send them to me at jmw2u @ yahoo.com, but minus the spaces of course.

There's always interest for a crewcab...
