Defender Kit on LR3/4 Disco 3/4 vehicles

Maybe the bumper was not assembled correctly (last one on a Friday before happy hour ;) ) or your LR3 was in a collision that knocked the mount points off a bit. I suspect probably the latter as the bumpers are likely fabricated on a jig

Here is an excellent video showing how ARB fabricates their bumpers. I highly recommend watching this:

Here is a more sales and marketing take on how they make their bumpers. I haven't actually watched this one yet:

I meant to add, when I helped RoverSpecialites with the original rockslider design for the LR3, we noticed a lot of variety in the frame assembly dimensions from truck to truck. Was quite maddening!

I'm the second owner of my truck so it is possible it's been hit. I did consider that, but although I'm not a body man I haven't found any signs of collision repair and it had a clean carfax (like that means a lot).

I suspect as Nwoods pointed out it may be partially due to production tolerances on the truck and partially on the bumper. I know when we were building the rear bumper it was shocking how uneven things were side to side.
