DeLorme InReach (original) vs SE

So I'm in the market for a used DeLorme and was wondering why I would buy an SE over the original, assuming I'll be pairing it with a device. I did a search and looked on google a bit and can't determine if there are major differences other than the all in one feature with the screen. Love some help here from you DeLorme owners

I have the original and like it . I can use my Android phone to send messages and view maps through Earthmate App. With the phone, I can use my keyboard or use voice to text to compose a message .With the SE , you have to use a rocker button to scroll through the letters. Very tedious.

What I've gathered is that the only difference between the two is the GPS Navigation feature. I could be wrong.

A couple weeks ago I picked up the Delorme version of the Explorer on clearance. I've sent a couple test messages with it, but I really just bought it for check-ins while I'm out solo, so I only have the lowest plan.

Edit: Disregard my post. I didn't realize that the "original" had no built-in screen.

With the SE, you can still pair with your phone but also give you the option to be standalone. Just wondering if the standalone/screen feature is the only difference between the two.

I have the basic model and like it.

You have to remember that with the basic model, you have to keep charge in 2 different gismo if you want to send non prereccorded messages. And also think that you can get weather report with the SE ( has to be double check).

Also, basic does not come with rechargeable batteries. SE does I think. Basic kit is available, but more cash to spend.

But if run from a vehicule, charge is not an option.
