Destessing lx470 torsion bars...

Has anyone ever put stock lc100 bars on an lx470 that has skids,bumper,winch etc.? I was wondering what the "feel" is like. Stock, the bar is like a helper spring to the Ahc. I'm curious if, with a few hundred pounds of steel on the front end, the lc100 rods would still be too much for the Ahc to provide a god ride.

All the aftermarket stuff wants to beef up an lc100 or have the lx ditch the Ahc. The are no updated lx470 bars as far as I can see.

My goal is to keep the ride quality. I'm sure I'm pushing the durability of the system right now, but I don't want to dump it.

That actually sounds like a very reasonable experiment. If you were local I'd toss that together for you to find out how it feels!

A lot of the LX470 guys on IH8MUD do this, and also use the stock 100 series rear springs since many people just throw them out. Not sure about the ride quality but bumpers and armor are defiantly overwhelming for the AHC

im thinking its a new version of the ideal fj40 spring over... the best ones had the old worn out springs.

I literally have no extra time right now to hunt down a box, package, weigh and setup a pickup for UPS. Not trying to difficult. We can prob work it out in a few weeks.

I was pointing out I'd likely be reticent to send them myself, when I said "projecting" . Sorta tongue in cheek, I wasn't ripping on you.

Having said that, I do want the old tired bars and springs, as i cant seem to find them local. I'll hit you with a pm when I'm at my desk tomorrow, and maybe we can work out a mutually benificial agreement.
