anyone have their stuff?

I think its a great match with overland travel. Nothing like re-using the stock bumpers as skins, masking the heavy duty equipment, to keep your rig from getting stolen.

I for one, bought my XJ because I like the overall shape. This company strives to maintain a stock look while providing stout tire carriers, tow points, and winch mounts.

Very cool stuff. Lots of people on Naxja and LostKJ REALLY rave about the quality and fair prices.

Detours does have a great reputation among the XJers, they have some really nice products. Their 'Backbone" series as you described is a big hit for those who dont require a full heavy bumper.... like the Overlanding set.

Another Vendor you may want to look at is AJ's OffRoad.

I like the look of their rock sliders.. integrated uniframe reinforcement. Most just bolt to the frame at two points

Detours is great stuff. It should be on the short-short list of whatever products you are looking at.

I just purchased thier tailbone spare tire carrier.

The guy I talked to said he can't build them fast enough.

I should be getting mine in about 3 weeks.....

I actually know Mark (Detours) from Connecticut when he was making things out of his barn. He helped me put a lift kit on my Jeep right when I first moved there. He is a great guy and makes top notch products. It's good to see that his business has grown to a full time oporation.

thats awesome to hear, Ryan. The more I look at and drive my XJ, the more I love the way it is stock. Not much I can think of to improve it, and I expecially like the way it looks.

The detours front end winch mount and rear tire carrier sure are sounding sweet. :sombrero:

Hey thats, awesome thanks!

I'm salivating like one of pavlov's dogs over the "new for 2009" updated model, though.

The recovery points and winch mount are integrated, necessitating only one cut into the stock bumper rather than three. I'll admit my wife was happier about that. And we all know "if momma aint happy, aint nobody happy"

haha:bike_rider:

Here's a Warn M8000 mounted on the Detours KJ Backbone. It's similar to the XJ version.

Considering the weight savings, I may sell my bumpers to get some of these lighter weight pieces. Of course I'll have to source some stock bumpers, corners, flares and flare mounts then figure out how to make them fit again. Something to think about.:coffee:
