Anyone know where to find out more about this project?

The truck bed is recycled from a military trailer.

I'm not up to speed on the variations of the military 6x6.
Which version would you suggest for a similar downsizing?

It's been on here just a little while back. It's been bobbed. I'll search also but you should be able to find it searching here.

It's called "bobbing" a duece. go to the website www.steelsoldiers.com and become a member. Look under the category "Duece Modification and Hot-Rodding", you'll find all the information you can use about how to bob a duece. Oh, the trailer that they use for the bed is a M105, they're aren't too hard to find and can be gotten for >$500.

He (100dollarman) had seven trucks as of last week. Two had heaters, two had power steering, but not one had both features. Also he was out of bobbed trucks.

That post in the for sale section by Andre really got me thinking. I had my father drive by a check out his operation and trucks.

I've got one

Ask if you have any questions. It's a big freakin truck. Big radials, big winch, big grin on my face, you get the idea.

Well, don't tease us! Post some pics! I really like that bobbed deuce, that would be an epic cool toy to have.....would make firewood and mulch hauling a blast!

I don't think you can take them out of the US can you? Something about the Military surplus issue.... I think they're awesome though.

I always thought that would be a nice rig on which to build a camper. I've seen them with a Cummins 5.9 swap too.

And your father said.....?

I've been looking at Deuces for a while, but didn't know any one in the area who sold them. I'd be curious to hear feedback on his operation.

100dollarman usually has a ongoing thread on pirate 4x4 and I think the last one he sold went for 6k. with the larger tires on it.

Sorry about the delay (Forgot about this thread). The inventory in my post was what he had at that time. He said it was a cool little outfit and the guy was also pretty cool. The trucks looked great and the prices were reasonable.

I guess I want too much to want a deuce. A hard top, A/C, heater and power steering, but you sure do get a lot of truck for the price.

Chip,

I do not know what you would be planning to do with one of these and that might make a difference, but one of the big things I would look for is one of the older Dueces with the engine that can burn anything. I spoke with a guy who used 75% used motor oil and 25% gasoline in his fuel tank, and he said it drove perfectly.

The point is, if you are thinking about going off around the world, then the ability to burn pretty much any combustable liquid would be very nice.

Good luck!

Check out steelsoldiers.com, they always have a lot of good stuff on their forum.
