wow $1300? You can get an ARB bumper for that much which is a much superior set up IMO.

Yes you can get the ARB for around $1300 or the Platimum winch bumper for a $1000 but if you want the best hidden mount Devon is it. This mount was used by Land Rover on the millionth Discovery campaign.
The goal is to get the mounts with the recovery eyes here for $1150 -$1250 delivered.

The ARB at least follows the lines/style of the LR unlike some other versions. Plus, I like my safety features to remain intact. How does this internal replacement bumper work with our North American safety systems?

All the collisions sensors remain intact. European standards on these matters are far tougher and enforced than in the US. There is a weight savings over the ARB.

Again, this is a style choice for those who want a winch tray, but want something that is truly rugged will hold up for the long run.

I got mine three years ago from L8 before they became unavailable, and it is as awesome today as the day it was installed. It goes without saying that you cannot go wrong with L8's service.

That's a good price for the unit having looked at the Devon site. Is there a list of winches that work in it somewhere? I much prefer keeping the front of my LR3 looking stock rather than a hunk of ARB steel out there, personally preference. And, it could be transferred from my LR3 to an LR4 when that happens

The ARB unit detracts from the lines of the vehicle and weighs considerably more making this Devon unit the clear choice.

Its my understanding that the non integrated control box units will work such as the Warn XD9000

or maybe the Warn VR10000-S

As opposed to something like the XD9000i which should not fit

You need to carefully check the specifications on the physical size. I have the XD9000. It fits with some extra room, but not a lot. Compensating with snatch blocks will seriously reduce the load, and subsequent amperage. Pictured here, without the bumper shell, you can click it twice to zoom in.

There are some specifics on what I would suggest for the wiring when you get to that point. Bear in mind, I have a 2nd battery as well, so it is wired there.

If you plan to use synthetic, instead of the wire rope, then consider something shorter, say 75-80' and that will also increase your pulling power at any given length compared to wire, or longer synthetic. I try get as much as possible off the drum.

What about getting them to prep it for our vehicles before shipping? Regarding the notching comment up a few posts.

If these Germans are building it to safety spec too, then I'll be seriously considering their aluminum bumper <snip>Looks pretty slick too.

In this case, they are acting like the chinese. This is a copy, Spanish design originally. I did a deal with original designer, after they went out of biz, and have the cad files, working on that project currently. The material as pictured is quite thin, but an awesome looking design. That's an unauth. copy. LOL.

I too may be interested in this -- How are these to unlock the drum spool ability? Just curious...

The way I did mine was to use a hole saw and put in a finger size hole, otherwise, I have never seen anyone make a provision for it. Maybe the newer warn design will be easier. Here is the way I did it.. I wanted to finish it out with a nice rubber grommet or plug, but could not find one.

What/where is the "platinum" ?

Is there a rough time frame deadline for getting on board with this Devon order?

One hiccup I'd have is I sold my factory bumper cover figuring I'd never need it. :/

Yup-I'm in. Joined group a looong time ago. Just getting back in action with 2011 lr4. Not a big fan of Warn-recent quality issues. Any other winches that will fit in the 9500# range?

Take a look at the Superwinch Tiger Shark 9500; its an entry level winch but at entry level cost compared to the Warn where I feel like you pay for the badge these days. Its nice that you can get one off Amazon with a synethic line for ~500-600.
