Devon hidden mount for LR3 - winch fitting

I bought a used Devon 4x4 mount for my LR3 but am having a tough time figuring out what winches will fit. I know there might be a little cutting or grinding necessary but don't want to get something that doesn't work at all. I believe the Warn Zeon fits with some cutting and obviously relocating control box, but would prefer not to spend that much.

I want to use a superwinch Talon 9.5 synthetic but no one can seem to verify if that will fit. Can anyone tell me what winches they have used successfully for this install?

Thanks

May have better luck over on D3.uk with this, there are probably a few folks here that have done it but I'm guessing a ton of folks there have gone with that kind of setup and played with various winches in it.

Contact Jake direct at Devon 4x4 and he will give you a list and or modifications required. That's who I have been dealing with for ordering and I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.

Thanks for thinking of me gang.. Yes, I have one-- drop me a PM if you like I'll send you my phone# and e-mail address.

You need to carefully check the specifications on the physical size. I have the XD9000. It fits with some extra room, but not a lot. Compensating with snatch blocks will seriously reduce the load, and subsequent amperage. Pictured here, without the bumper shell, you can click it twice to zoom in.

There are some specifics on what I would suggest for the wiring when you get to that point. Bear in mind, I have a 2nd battery as well, so it is wired there.

If you plan to use synthetic, instead of the wire rope, then consider something shorter, say 75-80' and that will also increase your pulling power at any given length compared to wire, or longer synthetic. I try get as much as possible off the drum.

The way I did mine was to use a hole saw and put in a finger size hole, otherwise, I have never seen anyone make a provision for it. Maybe the newer warn design will be easier. Here is the way I did it.. I wanted to finish it out with a nice rubber grommet or plug, but could not find one.

There's a few other little things you should know about the install, it would be easier to discuss it before you start.

Thanks everyone, appreciate the help. Jake at Devon was great and he helped me figure out what would fit. I just need to figure out how to source the bumper cutout pattern and all the hardware as I have none of it.

Unseenone I remember talking to you about this a while ago, lucky8 did your install right?
I'll check with you for details thanks a lot

I got it from L8 we did the fitting there in the freezing cold LOL. We more or less did it together, but I ended up changing quite a bit. I'll dig out the patterns if I can find them, really it turned out to be more of a custom fit. Drill, measure, cut, trim, repeat. Dropped you a PM with my contact details.

What hardware do you need?

LOL, I met up with L8 in Buffalo on a Drive from VT to TX. It was after a cold snap, and snow. Here today, High 63 low 33. That is cold for here, not bad if the wind is not whipping.

image.jpgWell, I was told I bought a Devon mount but it's definitely not. Pretty sure it's a terrafirma, can anyone confirm?

I wasn't planning on doing pics and a write up as unseenone and Dmarchand have both done excellent ones on other sites but if Anyone really wants one I can try and put one together.

I thought same thing but terrafirma is saying theirs has a bar across the top where this one doesn't. Lucky 8 verified that their terrafirma does as well. Dmarchand , does yours look exactly like one I posted? The one I have looks to be from "allmakes " who owns terrafirma anyway so possibly just and older design.

Anyway, there are not install instx but Devon was kind enough to give me theirs so they should be close enough. I will have to source hardware and figure out the bumper cutout.
