I think I need a bigger truck!
One of the biggest issues with these units in a pop-up is the lack of pipe length. Much of the heat actually comes from the stovepipe and when you have a shorty stovepipe I think they struggle to be really effective. Love the way they look and function, but those forced air diesel heaters are pretty amazing for the space and power and fuel they consume.

I like that you can also get a solid fuel unit in a similar form factor. Nice to have a tiny fireplace in the right space. Our friends had one on their sailboat in the aft cabin. It was rad.

^^^ yup exactly right. You have such a short pipe in a pop up (or any camper really).. the pipe gets hot AF and goes straight out the side of the camper. You also need to deal with the fabric sides coming down to rest on the hot stovepipe... either putting the top down after having run the heater, or running it with the top down. I built an Al shield that doubles as flat surface to put hot drinks on, or stuff to dry etc. I use a fan on a Dewalt battery to try and scavenge some heat off the pipe and spread it around.. additional noise. The heater itself is pretty quiet even with the built in fan running on high. The built in fan is anemic... bigger than a laptop fan, but not by much.
