Are the manual 5spd transmissions in FE's and FG's the same or different? In other words, is the transfer case in an FG just bolted to the back of an FE 5spd so an FE 5spd can replace an FG 5spd?
I'm wondering because my syncros are worn and I'm debating whether purchasing a used 5spd, rebuilding it, and putting it in my Fg might be a better course of action than rebuilding my existing one since I'd end up with a spare transmission if I do a swap.
