Disco 4.0 to 4.6 Conversion

I have heard better things about the bosch over the gems so I was leaning that way. Has anyone else heard that? My current 4.0 is a bosch and I also heard that a same to same swap was easier.

My friends a rover mechanic, he said you just need the crank & rods to do the 4.6 upgrade from 3.9/4.0L. Keep the origional pistons as there flat top & the 4.6 are dished, you get more power that way. He also suggested a head port & polish plus a decent cam makes a powerful & fairly fuel efficient unit for touring.

go with a Bosch motor. that way you get all the correct fuel injection components already installed when you pick up a used one. the Range Rover 4.6L is supposed to be built better then the Land Rover Disco Version

Does using the flat top pistons result in a higher compression ratio (and if so, how much?), or are the flat tops recessed in the block?
