No don't have one or everyseen one. But I was thinking of building rack , but thought why not build it into an exo cage well I am at it .

Has anyone every seen a good looking exo cage on a disco1 that looks not half bad? Or is this a pipe dream and I should not even go there. :ylsmoke:

that actually looks pretty ok. Personally IMHO i don't really think a Disco needs a exo cage. The discovery is pretty strong in the roll over aspect to a degree and unless one is going to go full rock crawler i would just cut the roof and then cage it!

Mike, we're on the same page. The exo is hideous on anything but a defender.

Tim, the internal SD cage would be the right choice IMO. If you could find one...

Agree. Cutting off your nose to spite your face. "Hey, I don't have any body damage, but I do have all these tubes all over the place!"

You don't need to buy a name brand cage. I mean seriously. Any cage builder worth anything could easily copy the SD cage. It's a joke.

"I wish I had a nice internal cage, but I can't find an SD" is a really lame excuse.

Nonimouse: I do like that though. It's not much more obtrusive than an SD roof rack, and I do like keeping the bars out of the headspace in the cabin.

This cage would have done nothing for the body damage I received. I was going through some mud and caught a tree on my passenger rear door. Once in the mud ruts steering was pretty much pointless. There are also a lot of areas where I did not hit the roof/side of my vehicle but would have if i had the cage.

Most of my off roading is done on very tight trails with considerable tree growth and occasional mud.

If you're considering an Exo to prevent body damage I would say forget it.
If its to protect your skull in a complete roll-over then I could see its benefit. But you might as well go with the internal then.

D-Is are disposable these days. If it rolls or the body damage too great, buy a rust free w/ a bad motor, and flip the extras to the new one. Odds of you rolling one are slim, and they hold up very well from a safety perspective. Be practical...
