Discovery 1 1997 - door lock issues

Hi all

Having lots of issues with my vehicle.

If I lock the car with the remote and then unlock, my drivers door opens.

If I lock it from the inside using the door latch, I cannot open the door.

I then end up having to pull up the pin(attached) inside the door panel with a hanger to be able to open the door using the exterior handle.

I'm wanting to replace the whole central locking system and replace the lock to start with. Have any of you had any similar issues like this?

This? The over-center spring that flips the latch assembly one way or the other. If it is broken you have to manually lift the interior lock pin or exterior, turn the key and hold, followed by opening door. A very common issue. Also, the interior rods are threaded so also may need adjustment.

Excellent reply mpinco, beat me to it.

I've replaced this very spring in the rear door of my 98 disco, and now it actually opens after 6 months of being permanently shut. Fun times!

WORD OF ADVICE - TAKE PICTURES of the linkage, lots and lots of pictures so you are able to put it all back together again.
