Discovery 2 Roof Rails

Anyone seen roof rails like this? I've never seen another disco with full length roof rails. I'm just wondering if its a weird option for mine or what?

I'm in the process of removing them so I can mount my roof rack a lot closer to the roof.

Yep, it's a rare but factory available option. I almost bought a set to add to mine when I did the half rack, but opted for custom mounts instead of the $500 price tag on them (parts only).

I have the rail extensions on my D2. Installed them myself. There's a tool that comes with them to align your drill. You have to remove the interior upper trim pieces in the back, find the stamped dimple in the corner, and insert the tool there. This will let you drill the pilot hole through the roof. Then, from the outside, you drill the actual hole for the rail to fit. Attach the foam pad, and tighten the nut to secure the rail extension.

I have these also, and mounted them my self. It is factory add-on for Discovery2. Look for STC 50034AA - extended roof rails. I have a roof tent on top, mounted on 3 cross bars, without any problems. It is much lighter than a roof rack, and also the roof tent is closer to the roof.

The tent is only 130cm wide, moved a bit to right side. I have placed a 20cm wide 2m long "roof rack" on left side (cable tray), above the 2x2m marquise.

Funny my friend and I were just talking about full length roof bars the other day and how we wished they had them. Never knew they were a option. To rich for my blood this time of year but I'll send him a link

Got the roof bars thanks, if you happen across one of the rubber grommets that goes to where they mount to the standard bars I'd love to have it lol
