Removed the OE mirrors today. I learned why the mirrors weren’t getting blown around as badly as they might have been. Someone drilled through the lower door mount and through the main mirror tube and installed a self tapping screw to hold the mirrors in position. The hole in the mirror tube has worn over the years allowing about 5 or 10 degrees of motion. The main mirror tube has a clamp behind the main lower mount to hold it firm. On mine, both sides, two of the clamp screws were not in place at all.

Used some plumbers epoxy to produce a hard surface for the new bolts to tighten against

Mine had loose clamps inside when I pulled them apart as well.

Drove the truck for the first time today with the new mirrors. What a vast improvement. I hadn’t really paid attention to the wind noise the old mirrors created until I had a quiet ride today. Thanks.

Excellent! So glad you are happy with them. Outside of the super singles, I feel they are the best improvement I have made to the truck.

Completed and field tested the new bumper. Very happy with the result. Ended up integrating the AC condenser mount into the passenger side storage bin. The bins are very useful for chains, garbage, stinky diesel addative, etc…. I see why they charge so much for custom bumpers as it was a ton of work!

It was a good solution. The winch manufacturer recommended forward mounting to prevent stress on the mount bolts. It required less metal which helped compensate for the fact that I built it out of 1/2" thick material. Not sure why more manufacturers don't go this direction.

Very nice. Although the 8 mounting bolts somewhat negate the need fo do it this way. Is that a Runva?

Yes, it's the EWN17500 model.
Even though this model does use eight mounting bolts, I firmly believe that a vertical mount is physically stronger than a horizontal mount.

With regards to the to the to the Defender mirrors you can also get an extended length arm which I think originally fitted on the 400 series Sherpa I'll see if I can find a part number for them. I fitted them to aa Defender 90 when I ised to tow a Caravan.

The way I mounted mine utilizing the fuso bracket extended them a bit but more length would be welcome. Thank you!
