I have a MSR Elixir 3. I fold it once to get the width right, then roll it to fit into the stuff sack it came with. The sack easily fits the poles, tent, footprint and rainfly with room to spare. I've never been able to easily fit everything back in the factory bag with cheaper tents. Guess it's more proof that you get what you pay for when it comes to design and quality. LOL

Well, my system requires a fold into roll. Note that I am never good enough to ensure folds occur at same place.

I have a big *ss tent/nylon. BUT my system uses a homemade ground sheet (floor from old coleman tent) that, when tent stowed, covers the outside and isolates tent from elements (rain). Thus can transport on top of rig, throw on ground, unroll and tent is totally isolated from the ground/mud. Helps save tent as a lot of tent problems stem from sand/dirt induced abrasion over time (especially relevant for built in fly).

I have an OZ tent and the only to get it back into the bag is to close it up per the instructions. If it is wet I open it up when home to dry out.

I always fold and roll. My OCD way. If I just stuffed the tent in the sack, I would be beside myself for days! ha ha
