ok i sell dodge parts for a living
and
i drink to much rockstar

the 6.7 has maney problems ur local dealer know about

there 2 diffrent reasons thay come on typicaly

first the turbos SUCK

ther is a tsb on a turbo cleaning wich may lead to tubo replacement this must be done by a dealer

there is also a tsb on 02 sensors

the tsb tells u to wrap the 02 sensors in hedder wrap this holds in heat and burns the suit off

the problem is that U DO NOT WANT TO IDEL these tucks

the egr system is a joke the 02 system is lame and none is needed

but the government says so

the best thing u can do for these tucks is beat them get them hot run them hard shut them off

you also need to be ready 4 a big service arounf 70 k
thay suit up bad

Not good to burn the suit off...(those fine Italian ones are expensive). I guess one could bring a change of clothes just in case???...

Ha ha...Dango..I think you are looking for the word "soot" refering to the black stuff that cakes on everything. Thanks for the heads up on all this though.

Well, what I think "98dango" is trying to tell you guys is that there has been quite a few problems with the 6.7ltr "bluetec" CTD's and soot build up. I am a lead tech at a Dodge dealer here in the valley. For those of you who have ever bought a new design or "first gen" of anything there's bound to be problems that unfortunatly the public gets to work out the bugs with long term use.

It seem's today's diesle fuel's are just not very clean and create alot of soot. And with all the new fandangled sensors in the exhaust and using a EGR system again, things are getting plugged with soot. I have seen them with less than 10k miles and I have replaced the turbo unit. Nothing mechanical is breaking down, it just gets to the point where the sensors are not reading correctly from the buildup of soot.

I just got handed about a 100 page service bulliten the other day. Quite extensive and it does fix any problems the trucks are having. So any of you guys that have or have thought about getting one, don't fret, it's still the best diesle you could ever buy (imho)

PM me if anyone has any questions for me and I'll do my best to get them answered

I haven't had any trouble with mine. It is so much better than my 2002 Dodge Cummins, I love it. Of course all the emissions stuff has mysteriously fallen off and I have a Bully Dog PMT. Check out the Cummins Forum if you want to see how to make these trucks run right.

wow.. thats harsh.

considering I was part of the development team.

Just wait until 2010, when ford and chevy have new engines out and ours is 3 years proven and needs to tweaks for the 2010 emissions.

so much misinformation on the internets.
