nothing wrong w/ inline. Cummins diesels are inline engines. they just take up a lot of space compared to a Vee engine, which are more efficient packaging.

Preaching to the choir here, but there are significant benefits to an inline design as you know. It is space unfriendly though...

I voted last week when I bought a 2004.5 Dodge Ram quad cab long bed diesel, automatic. Already making plans for the new camper to go on it.

I really like Tundra. I think it is a more comfortable, better riding and driving truck than the Dodge. It won't haul as much. I believe with my Hawk on I am right at the limit for GVW. I am selling my Hawk and getting a Granby for the Dodge. A 2500 would have been fine, but the deal on the 3500 was good. I'm enjoying the power of the diesel, though I really don't use it.I've only had the Dodge less than a week. Had the Tundra since new. They are really different vehicles. The back seat on the Dodge is not as roomy as the double cab Tundra, but the truck is substantially wider. If the Tundra had been a 4x4, I would probably have just kept and used that for the time being. Sorry about the rambling. In a hurry and have to run. I've tried to attach a picture, don't know if it worked.

And it should be. It's an apples-to-oranges comparison. A 1/2 ton 2-wheel drive should ride and drive better than a 3/4 or 1-ton 4x4 truck, especially one with the front-end-heavy Cummins. Don't know if the Tundra has rack-and-pinion steering like the 2wd Dodge does, but that would make a big difference right there since the 4x4 Dodge doesn't have it.

4X4 Tundra

I've driven a 4x4 Tundra and it rides and drives as well as the 2wd. Still won't haul what a 3/4ton will.

PS v Cummins v dura max

If you're considering new trucks, my opinion as to which is best would be the results aren't in. It seems that all the mfg are struggling with mods required for low sulfur diesel. My ideal truck would be the Superduty, with the Cummins backed by the Allison.

Used, the Cummins or if older a 7.3 Powerstroke. But if I found a deal on a Duramax, I'd likely snap it up.

See I was no help :088:
