Does a canoe count as a vehicle modification?

cuz, um...we got one, lol.

a family friend gave it to our in-laws for us to use, so technically its their's but its sitting in our garage, and is our's to restore and use.

its a 1950s-60s vintage old town canoe. its wooden and heavy, but VERY cool. i can lift it by myself but its definitely not the bantam weight kayaks that my in-laws run.

its in good shape, just really needing to be sanded and varnished/painted. a few repairs should be made, but they don't make it un-seaworthy.

Brian,

Congrats!!! I will let you count it as a modification if I can count surfboards as a mod too. She looks good though! I love those older wooden ones, they are almost too pretty to put in the water (almost). Good luck with the resto!

This will be great for the girls to gain experience on the water.

Edit... I just saw the sailing jig. Cool!

thanks, robb. i think surfboards are mod if they go on a trip with you. sure. they can add uplift which decreases vehicle weight and therefore improves miles per gallon.

har, har. my eyes just turned brown:elkgrin:

addy and kayla LOVE the water in any form and like going on the kayaks with nanny and pappy, but they don't like that they can't move around a bit. they get bored easily! this should give them room to move and skoot and look into the water at the ducks we feed illegally up at lake murray. :D

i've also been wanting a fishing setup to take with us up to glacier national park, and mebbe a few closer, high alpine ones, too.

Beautiful, I think they still make a similar model. I own a Old Town that is still in Canada, more modern design, cant seem to go wrong with their products.

That is quite the looker. Nice canoe. That's something we'd like to pick up when she graduates from school in a couple of years. Then we'll head north to do some of the Boundary Waters.

Great canoe you will love the sailing rig if you get it set up. I have been canoe sailing for years there is nothing like it. I have a 1910 old town it is acharles river 16 off for restoration right now. I should have it back sometime late next year. It has been traveling around the country to the best restoration places for each indivudual shop. I figure since it lived for almost 100 years I shold go ahead and spare np expence in trying to keep it alove for another 100 years.
